Today, I am loving...

Today, I am loving... the nonchalant style of Selby Drummond featured a few months ago in Vogue's Five Days, Five Looks, One Girl.

Many women are devoured by fashion; but a few have the ability to let style take center stage. As Lauren Hutton says, "FASHION is what YOU'RE OFFERED four times a year by designers. STYLE is what YOU CHOOSE." Selby doesn't seem hung up on what's current. Here she is wearing a relaxed Miumiu dress from last year's Resort collection. She looks so comfortable with herself and I find this relaxed confidence so charming.

It's also ironic how she is able to make those statement Prada shades look understatedly elegant. It's easy for these shades to wear you, but she's able to avoid that - she wears these Pradas in a refined, elegant way.

She seems to value sentimental significance over luxury and fashion. I love how different watches from her mom's vintage watch collection are featured in this series.

She also shows us why she is Vogue's Accessories Editor with the way she piles up on rings, bracelets and necklaces without looking over-accessorized.

some polka dots i spotted...

Did you ever think about the importance of a single dot?

Featuring two images that wouldn't mean anything if it weren't for a single dot...

Don't you agree? Aren't these some pretty important dots?

i love holiday Mondays!

Don't you just love long weekends? I especially like Monday holidays! It lets you go through your usual weekend... Then... a bonus day!

To just kick back...

Relax...

And read a book...

I really love the bonus rest day a holiday Monday brings!

toilet-paper-roll art

Remember this toilet paper roll from my Cut Paper Art post here? Turns out so many others have created art out of toilet paper rolls.

These owls can be a cute project with the kids. It's the easiest to do out of all the TP Art in this post, but it's my absolute favorite! The different owl faces and the pretty colors are adorable!

Junior Fritz Jacquet sculpts toilet paper rolls into these amazing (but kind of creepy) masks.

Anastassia Elias created this incredible art titled Paper Cut-Rolls out of toilet paper rolls.

The skill in these works of art is just extraordinary. To think, their canvas is something as ordinary as an empty toilet paper roll!

my favorite things

We recently watched the Sound of Music at the Newport Performing Arts Theater. And while My Favorite Things was sung in the abbey rather than Maria's bedroom (as in the movie), I got to thinking about my own favorite things -- the random, everyday things that never fail to put a smile on my face.

1 I loooove post-its - tiny ones, big lined ones and those with pretty patterns. 2 All Crayola products. Seriously. I'd love to have a wall of all their crayons. They've retired some colors and changed the names of some over the years and I'd love to have every crayon that was ever produced. 3 There's something about cable knit sweaters that I am attracted to. Everytime I go shopping out of the country, I am drawn to them and I always have to tell myself, "No wools this time. No wools." or I'll end up with sweaters I can never use in Manila. 4 Royal Milk Tea with small and big bubbles from Bubble Tea is my absolute favorite. 5 Polka-dot lining in wallets, bags and boxes are always a pleasant surprise! 6 I love horses. Just seeing thoroughbreds calms me. I grew up making pretend-horses out of side-tables, my teddy bear (for the head) and my mom's belts as reins. So I love seeing rocking horses nowadays. 7 Growing up, I had my brother as a playmate so dolls were never a play option. The toy we both loved was Lego. We created so many things out of our Lego bricks! I remember making dogs with a flat hole for a mouth that could fit those tiny smooth flat pieces which we pretended were doggie treats. 8 And of course, pretty scrapbook paper, notebooks and gift wrappers. I love that there are so many delightful prints and patterns out there.

When the dog bites
When the bee stings
When I'm feeling sad
I simply remember my favorite things
And then I don't feel... so bad.

What about you? What are your favorite things?

Noah says...

It was Noah's turn to lead our bedtime prayer. "Dear Jesus, Can you please come here already because I haven't seen you today. Only in the bible..."

When he saw me typing - I was transcribing his prayer on my cellphone so I wouldn't forget another of his quotable quotes - he exclaimed, "O, send it na! Does God have a phone?"

Whimsical Wednesday!

Somewhere over the rainbow... where the dreams that you dare to dream really do come true.

The first quadruple rainbow was recently caught on camera, validating over a century-long theory that the phenomenon exists. One would think a "quadruple rainbow" would be a stack of four arcs. But NatGeo says that only two rainbows can be caught in a single frame, because of the way light reflects and bends within raindrops.

I like the idea that more rainbows means more places over the rainbow... and if I just dare to dream, they really do come true!

So dare to dream!

Have a whimsical Wednesday!
