Noah says...

Before sitting down at the dinnertable, I reminded Noah to wash his hands. He did obey me, but after washing his hands, as he sat down, he asked, "Why do I need to wash my hands before I eat with a spoon & fork? My hands won't touch my food naman."

Yet again, he's got a point, right?

Noah says...

This one time we were in Eastwood, Noah decided he wanted to go bowling. We hadn't planned to, so he didn't have socks on. Unfortunately, the Eastwood bowling lanes didn't have any socks for sale that day.

When we broke it to him - that he couldn't go bowling that day, he asked, "Why do I need to wear socks ba?" So we told him that many people use the rental shoes, that their sweaty feet will touch the shoes and that it will be icky if he wore shoes with sweat & stuff. I really thought that would be the end of it, but he persisted, "Eh if everyone wears socks, eh di nothing goes to the shoes." as if to say 'So it's okay for me not to wear socks!'

Once again, he's got a point, right?

Watch out for the next post from this Noah Says... series for yet another valid point from Noah.

I guess because Noah learned in school that Sunday is the start of the week, he had to ask, "Why is Sunday called a weekend? Why not weekstart?"

He's actually got a point, right?

Watch out for the next few posts from this Noah Says... series - where Noah makes a few more valid points.

We were listening to old music on the way to the mall one day. The playlist had Neil Sedaka songs including Run Samson Run. Noah had heard the song a couple of times already so he was singing along at the chorus.

I was surprised because later at the mall, Noah asked, "Why should the TV run? In Run Samsung Run?"

I wanted to burst out laughing but stifled it as best I could... 'Coz poor Noah... He was probably puzzled about it the whole time in the car and walking around the mall. :(

We were talking about the sizes of beds.

I said, "Ours is a king. [Your sister] Isabella's is a queen..." Noah tried to finish my statement, "And mine is a servant?"

Noah was singing Jose Marie Chan's Christmas In Our Hearts...

"In every pray'r and every song, the community unites, celebrating the BURP of our savior Jesus Christ."

Oh, my little devil, er- angel!

Noah says...

I asked Noah to lead our bedtime prayer one night. But he refused because he didn't know what to say.

'Just say what's in your heart', I prodded.

He replied, "All that's in my heart is veins & blood!"

Yes, it's hard enough to teach the English language with all these quirks. But I'm sure most of you will agree that Filipino is much, much harder to teach!

I remember when Isabella was in her early gradeschooler days, her talasalitaan [vocabulary list] included the word pobre [poor] which, in her handout said, meant mahirap [poor in this context, but could also mean difficult]. After Isabella finished studying her talasalitaan, the hubby decided to test her. He asked her to use pobre in a sentence and she said, "Ang pag-aral ng Filipino ay pobre". Acheche!

Like sister, like brother: recently, while Noah was working on his Filipino assignment, he asked, "What's simbahan [church]?" I had grand dreams of teaching critical thinking, helping him figure it out on his own, so I asked him, "What's simba [go to church]?" He answered, "Lion?" (Yes, he was thinking of Simba from Lion King). Ayos!

Photo from here, but first discovered on my Facebook newsfeed.

During a Bisita Iglesia over the Holy Week, Noah started talking about Jesus. If I'm not mistaken, he was thinking of one of the prisoners on the cross beside Jesus on Calvary. Noah asked, "Diba one of Jesus' friends died?"

Pursuing the conversation, the hubby asked Noah if he knew how that man died. Noah replied, "Maybe he followed Jesus when He walked on water and he drowned".

As we entered Subic during one of the August long weekends (see related posts here and here), we spotted several monkeys by the road.

When Noah saw them, he excitedly exclaimed, "Friends!!!!"

Palm-claps-forehead moment for me.

But I guess he really considers himself a monkey... Because a month ago, Isabella, Noah and I were playing the Alphabet Animal game. When we got to letter N, Noah said, "Noah! Because a lot of people call me monkey."

Oh boy!

Photo is my own taken by my Canon S-90 in our moving car, one car-lane away.

The hubby and Noah are grocery buddies. They often do the grocery for us...

In June, since the summer was ending, we were recounting the places we went to - like the beach, Balik Bukid in Sta. Elena, horseback-riding in Clark and a Bisita Iglesia roadtrip. Then Noah exclaimed, "We went pa to other places! We went to Puregold!"

A couple of weeks later, Noah discovered a huge roll of double-sided tape (yes, he gets excited about such things because as you know, he has super paper powers) and asked who bought it. I said I didn't. So he said, "Maybe Daddy. He's rich eh. He pays for 2 carts nga when we go to the grocery!"

Funny how much of an impact the grocery had on Noah. About the same as our summer roadtrips! And I love how he measures wealth by the number of grocery carts.

Happy grocery Sunday!

Photo from designeditor. Incidentally, aren't those grocery cart & restaurant highchair covers awesome to keep your baby protected from germs? Ooohh, something ocmominmanila will go gaga over.

Noah says...

Noah was watching Team Umizoomi over a year ago. The TV said, "Where's the wheel with white stripes?" And he answered, "Ayun o!! What are you? Blind??"

Then recently, he declared that sometimes, Special Agent Oso annoys him. When I asked why, he replied, "Because whenever they look for something that's just right beside them, they don't look. They just ask us!"

From blind to lazy. I'm glad Noah now has a more mature response to apparently annoying things on TV. But maybe Noah really should read instead.

While we were watching the Sound of Music DVD, I pointed out the nuns - the "sisters" at the abbey - to Noah. And he exclaimed, "Those are sisters?! I can't believe a mom can give birth to so many!"

Oh my...

I had an early meeting at the office and left the house before Noah woke up. So I got a call from him around mid-morning saying, "I need to go to the eye doctor because when I woke up, my up-eye was stuck to my down-eye."

He thought he needed to go to the eye doctor because he had muta! Ayayay! But I have to say I love how he called his eyelids up-eye and down-eye. Hahaha!

Noah says...

We watched The Avengers this weekend and although I was laughing out loud throughout the movie, it was Noah that got me ROTFL.

The moviehouse was packed so the seats we got were in 2 rows. He sat behind me and I heard him laughing out loud during Ironman's "Shakespeare in the park" jab at Thor.

So later, I asked him if he knew who Shakespeare was. And he answered, "All I know is Britney Spears."

If I were drinking tea like Jane Foster & Black Widow here, I'd probably have spat it out!

I wonder if Natalie Portman got paid for a mere photo cameo? If not, then I wonder why they didn't just limit Gwyneth Paltrow's role to a photo?

She must cost a lot. After all, she's not only Pepper Potts, she also won an Oscar for Shakespeare in Love.

Not Shakespeare, just Britney Spears! Hysterical!

I was trying on swimsuits recently. Noah was in my room so I asked him if I looked good. He amicably answered, "Yes... If you're not fat."

Ouch!

Noah says...

Noah and I were talking about him learning to drive. I told him I'd been driving for (aaagghhh!) 20 years. As if telling me that was no big deal, he said, "That's little [less] than prison years."

And when I asked how long prison years took, he answered, "100 years." Ah, so that's why 20 years was nothing!

Jeesh, "prison years"! Where does he learn these terms?

When I got home from work one day, I asked Noah if he took a nap that afternoon so I would estimate what time we were going to bed that night. He replied, "Yes, but I think it was too early." I corrected him, "You mean 'too short'?" He exclaimed, "I don't know! Because I'm not awake when I'm asleep!"

Noah says...

I've been sick this whole week. So last Monday, while we were lying on the bed together, I told Noah he could only kiss me on my cheek. After kissing me 5 times on my cheek, he got on his knees, leaned over my face and bounced his cheek 5 times on my lips.

Now that took the sick blues away. I just love how awfully sweet my Noah is!

Noah says...

Noah declared that he needed a haircut. I was so suprised because overgrown hair seems to be the least of any kid's concerns. So I asked him why he thought he needed a haircut. Noah answered, "When I make gigil*, my eyes become big and my hair tickle(s) my eyebrows!"

*Sorry, non-Filipino-speaking readers. There is no direct translation for this word. It's that feeling you get when you see something so cute - say, a super cute baby with big fat cheeks - and you want to smush it - like pinch the baby's cheeks - but you stop yourself. So your hand pinches the air and your eyes grow wide and you raise your eyebrows and maybe even purse your lips and maybe grit your teeth!
