a different kind of Christmas lights

Remember the delightful surprise of the heart-shaped red light on Valentine's day in Bonifacio High Street here? Well, they're now Christmassy!

A Christmas tree for the green light and a star for the red! Aren't they the cutest?

They're quite different from the customary sparkly, twinkly Christmas lights. But I have to say they are adorably charming! Certainly made me smile (and circle a High Street block a number of times to get a good picture).

BHS folks, I <3 you!

Photos are my own.

Color Obsession: rainbow row of colors

I love this Kate Spade board covering up the store renovations in Shangrila Mall! With the purses, shoes & clothes lined up according to color - in rows resembling a rainbow!

It reminded me of other everyday things I've seen lined up according to the colors of the rainbow. Like books...

More books... This time on a bookshelf...

Pencils... Yes, my colored pencils are always arranged this way.

Bridesmaid dresses (which you might remember from here)...

Rainboots...

Stilettos...

This growing trend of pretty rainbow cakes...

And even people! Haha!

Isn't it so much fun?

P.S. Like I warned you here, this is one of those long overdue posts. So by now, the Kate Spade store in Shangri-la Mall might already be open!

Color Obsession: burgundy

I don't know about you, but the last time I heard the color burgundy said out loud was way back in high school. I remember having a thick oversized burgundy cardigan from Benetton that I would wear over my uniform when it was cold. I've forgotten about this color - almost like Cinderella did with her slipper (I just want to make sense of that photo of a lone shoe). Surprisingly, it is everywhere in the Fall selections of A Cup of Jo's Joanna on ASOS.

It certainly looks like the preppy ivy-league burgundy from high school...

... has turned sexy and flirty!

Especially paired with cherry red and turquoise in DVF's Fall Collection.

Then again, how can it not with the DVF touch?

Check out the signature DVF gold chain detail...

... on this burgundy purse that can hold an iPad.

To be honest, I am not obsessed with burgundy. But I am somewhat drawn to it. Maybe the deep, dark color makes it mysterious & enchanting. And because it's a red hue, it undoubtedly has a touch of sexy, flirty fearlessness.

Color Obsession: red

With the state of calamity that Metro Manila and neighboring provinces are in, I am so thankful to the Philippine RED Cross for mobilizing and responding to the flood-stricken victims of this continuous southwest monsoon rains.

This RED campaign (am not sure if it's an actual campaign, but these are the cover photos on their home page, which, incidentally, looks much better than the American Red Cross site!) is pretty impressive and inspiRED.

As early as Tuesday, the PRC deployed these Amphibian vehicles to help people in need. They say these vehicles can carry about 5 tons of cargo and 34 passengers (including the operator).

According to ANC, count of affected families has reached over 267,000 as of today. And so I am so thankful for these RED-clad rescue teams.

The Philippine RED Cross also makes it so easy for us to help out! My village has been safe from flood so far, but neighbors say that the flood is waist-deep outside our village. So I am so glad I can still help out by simply texting RED<space>AMOUNT to 2899 (Globe) or 4143 (Smart). You can donate in the following denominations:

Globe: 5, 25, 100, 300, 500 or 1000
Smart: 10, 25, 50, 100, 300, 500 or 1000

I love that there are really small denominations that even Isabella can make a donation! Other ways to donate can be found here.

Let's all do our part. Let's donate or volunteer and pray for the safety of our flood-stricken countrymen. And please, even if the curly fries in that RED carton is so tempting, please don't call for food delivery! Let's keep those delivery guys in RED (or orange) safe as well.

Found: Celine-ish Box Bag

Remember how I was lusting after Celine box bags here?

Well, guess what I found in SM department store yesterday? Isn't it pretty Celine-ish?

Oddly, even though I've been drawn to these authentic camel Celine box bags...

... I decided to get this gray one.

Too bad it wasn't available in more colors like the real thing. Would have wanted a blue-green one or that almond color I've been swooning over here.

But I have to say, at P629.75 (about US$14.50), I wouldn't mind letting undesirable, damaging things - more rainwater, than a cigarette though for me (see related post here) - near my Celine-ish box bag.

Can't wait to use my Celine-ish box bag!

Color Obsession: Turquoise and Red

I would never have thought of this color combination until I saw this image from Garance Dore.

A bit of surfing... and the color combo grew on me!

What about you? Did turquoise + red grow on you too?

Maybe we should start with small doses. Like a turquoise + red accent piece...

Can you imagine wearing turquoise + red?

Or would you rather start with something subtle like this turquoise trench with peekaboo red lining from the Burberry Prorsum Resort 2012 Collection?

Dorothy seemed to think it looked good. And she's been wearing this combination for ages! :)

Color Obsession: red

Louboutin chose red because "it is engaging, flirtatious, memorable and the color of passion." So true. Imagine the impact that majestic red Carolina Herrera coat had on the runway. Or Karlie Kloss' stunning red Lanvin gown.

Even the Resort 2012 collections showcase bold red passion pieces...

As Bill Blass said...

I realize though that I have nothing red in my closet. I'm not sure I'm ready for a solid, completely red dress. But I am quite smitten with the peekaboo red of this Carolina Herrera gown...

I hereby resolve to begin with a red accent this week. Perhaps a red belt or purse? Or maybe a red slip?

Or even a hat? Can you feel the wind of change blowing?

Okay, I couldn't resist to slip in another of Jamie Beck's moving photos. :)
