there's a new missus in town

Two of my fave travel & foodie buddies - J & K - are getting married today!

Funnily enough, J jokingly refers to me as the missus because during one trip, we ended up loading one cart with his & my luggage so we had to pass the Immigration Officer together. The Immigration Officer asked us if we were married and at the same time, I gave a vehement "no" and J mischievously answered "yes" -- which led to him having to sheepishly say to the Officer that "I'm still working on getting her to say yes". Since then, both J and K jokingly call me J's "misis".

And so today... I am happily bequeathing the role of missus to J's, now true missus: K.

I cannot be happier to witness these 2 friends of mine officially become Mr & Mrs. They were never a showy, mushy, PDA-type of couple.

But I've traveled so much & spent enough time with the two of them to have caught subtle sweet moments of affection between them.

That's why I know that even though these public displays of affection will never actually happen, I know that they are both feeling the exact same emotions deep inside...

Right J?

And K?

Here's to a beautiful wedding and a happy, wonderful life as Mr. & Mrs.!

Color Obsession: gold

I was always a silver rather than gold kind of gal. I had always thought gold was tacky. But I realize that lately, I've been drawn to gold. I still prefer rose gold, bronze & antique gold over yellow gold, but I've certainly been wearing gold jewelry more these days (especially my 90-year-old Lola's vintage jewelry which are all sorts of gold).

There is definitely an air of opulence to gold. Particularly on the dinnertable. Don't these gold chargers make this table quite elegant? Especially with the crisp, black napkins!

I'm totally charmed by this gold silverware (Ironic, right?).

I love the contemporary style of this silverware. Imagine if these gold utensils had those ornate curly-cue carvings? They wouldn't be fit for home-use - unless the Queen of England came to visit! This sleek deco design makes them appropriate for dinner parties at home.

On the other hand, this ornate front facade wouldn't be the same without the elaborate gold curly-cues. Now isn't this the most regal-looking city hall?

I also love the gold and navy combination. Isn't this gold tray set off perfectly by the striped navy bedlinens? Is there anything more chic?

Even when worn, navy tones down gold and gives this sparkly skirt a stylish but effortless look.

Yes, gold... paired with black or navy... is worth obsessing about. After all, everyday should be filled with effortless elegance.

endearing gestures of love

This photo booth proposal is harder to accomplish than you think. Pete needed to get the order of the letters right. It wasn't as easy as spelling out the words. The first photo booth set needed to spell W - Y - M - M. And he needed to grab the right letter in the milliseconds between each shot.

This prenup photo of an engaged couple holding up their parents' wedding photos is also so charming.

I like the idea of a newly-married couple taking a quiet walk by themselves after their wedding.

And finally, a marriage that lasts. Grandpa's hand over grandma's. In a church. Maybe the church they got married in? What could be more endearing than that?

Have a love-filled Sunday!

indoors out

Most people try to bring the outdoors in. But I guess indoor furniture is really just hard to live without. Check out these wedding photos from greenweddingshoes that bring the indoors out.
And when doors cannot be propped up by a wooden frame, there's always the human touch...
The indoors out. Charming, isn't it?
